Okoppe Choei

Okoppe Choei sits on the edge of Okoppe Town in the Okhotsk subprefecture, a quiet corner of Hokkaido near the Sea of Okhotsk coast. The mountain is modest: one run, one rope tow, 67 meters of vertical. The terrain splits 40% beginner and 60% intermediate, with a max pitch of 25°—nothing steep, nothing technical, just a straightforward slope to ride.

The real character here is in the operating schedule. Weeknights (Monday–Saturday) the hill opens for night skiing only, 6–9pm on Mondays and 6–9pm after 1pm on other weekdays. Weekends and holidays run 9am–5pm. There's no rental gear, no lessons, no park—this is a bare-bones community hill where locals come to ride under the lights or grab a few runs on a weekend.

At ¥1,570 for an adult day ticket, it's affordable. The slope is forgiving and mellow, making it accessible for newer riders or families. But come here knowing what you're getting: a single run, no frills, and the kind of small-town mountain energy that either appeals to you or doesn't. It's not a destination; it's a local's hill.
