Mombetsu Ouyama

Mombetsu Ouyama sits just above town in Hokkaido's Okhotsk region, a straightforward hill with two chairlifts and four marked runs. The vertical is modest at 233 meters, but the terrain mix—10% beginner, 60% intermediate, 30% advanced—gives riders enough to work with across a range of abilities. A small park and bobsleigh course add some variety for those looking beyond the main runs.

The riding experience here is no-frills and local. Night skiing happens on select evenings during the season, which runs January through March. The base sits close to town and the coastline, so access is straightforward if you're staying nearby. There's no dedicated school, but rental gear is available, and the 50/50 split between skiers and snowboarders means you'll find your people on the hill.

This is a place to ride if you're in the area or chasing Hokkaido's snow, not a destination in itself. The infrastructure is basic, the crowds are light, and the après-ski scene is modest at best—stay in town if nightlife matters to you.
