How it rides
Shinbo Family is a small, no-frills family ski area in Fukui Prefecture that reopened in 2021 after a few years of closure. The mountain is genuinely tiny—one pair lift serving three courses on a 45-meter vertical—and the terrain is almost entirely beginner-friendly, making it a straightforward choice for kids and first-timers learning the basics. The steepest pitch maxes out at 10 degrees, so there's no real challenge here for intermediate or advanced riders.
The area operates limited hours (9am–4pm weekdays, 9am–5pm weekends) and is closed most weekdays, so plan accordingly. Lessons and rental gear are available, which fits the family-learning mission. At 2,500 yen for an adult day ticket, it's affordable, but the limited terrain and single lift mean you'll lap out fast. This is a local spot for casual practice and family outings, not a destination mountain.
