Miyagi Zao Shiroishi

Miyagi Zao Shiroishi sits on Mt Fubo in the Zao range and draws steady traffic from the Sendai area. The terrain splits fairly evenly between beginner, intermediate, and advanced pitches, with a steep aspect that holds snow well through the season. A quad and three pair lifts service the mountain, keeping lines manageable on most days.

The riding experience is straightforward — nothing fancy, but solid fundamentals. Intermediates will find plenty of mellow cruising, while advanced riders get some genuine pitch to work with. The longest run stretches 1600 meters, which is respectable for a hill this size. There's a kids park near the base and a small terrain park, plus a snowboard school if you're looking to progress.

Shiroishi City itself is modest, so don't expect vibrant après-ski. The famous Zao Onsen resort sits about 15km away in Yamagata Prefecture but isn't accessible by road in winter. Miyagi Zao Shiroishi works best as a day trip from Sendai or a quiet local option if you're in the area — straightforward riding without the crowds or complexity of larger resorts.
