Boyodai sits just inland from the Japan Sea in Northern Hokkaido, a modest operation that makes no claim to grandeur. The terrain is split roughly 30% beginner, 60% intermediate, and 10% advanced, with a steepest pitch of 30 degrees. One pair chairlift serves four courses, the longest around 510 meters—short enough that you'll lap it repeatedly in a session.

This is a local hill, plain and simple. There's no ski school, no rental shop, no park. The base area is minimal, and the vibe is utilitarian. Riding here means showing up with your own gear and your own plan. The snowboarder split sits at 35%, so you'll see a mix of both. Hours vary seasonally, and Mondays close from early February onward, so check ahead before driving out.

If you're chasing deep powder or complex terrain, Boyodai isn't your destination. But if you're passing through Obira or want a quiet, straightforward day on the snow without crowds or infrastructure friction, the hill delivers exactly what it promises: a chairlift, some turns, and the Japan Sea in the distance.
