Blanche Takayama

Blanche Takayama operates in the Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen region, a highland area known for clear winter weather but relatively light snowfall compared to other parts of Nagano. The resort relies heavily on artificial snow production and grooming to maintain consistent riding conditions across its terrain. After decades as a skiers-only area, snowboarding is now permitted, opening the mountain to a wider audience.

The lift layout is straightforward: a long pair lift serves the lower, gentler slopes, while a quad and four pair lifts access the upper mountain. From the 1,800-meter summit, you get unobstructed 360-degree views across the region. The terrain split leans intermediate, with beginner and advanced sections balanced on either side. Riding here means accepting groomed, machine-made snow as the baseline—the resort markets it as 'Solid Snow' designed to be forgiving for all levels, which is a different experience than chasing natural powder.

The base area includes a Wan-Park with beginner features and activities for kids, plus ski rental and lessons. There's no night skiing, and the area is modest in terms of après-ski or nightlife. This is a straightforward day-trip mountain, best suited for riders seeking reliable groomed conditions and uncrowded runs in a scenic highland setting.
